Primary National Awards

Bharat Ratna – The Bharat Ratna, sometimes known as the “Jewel of India,” is the Republic of India’s highest civilian honor. The award, established on January 2, 1954, is given in appreciation of outstanding service and performance, regardless of race, occupation, status, or gender.

Padma Vibushan – After the Bharat Ratna, the Padma Vibhushan (Lotus Decoration) is the Republic of India’s second-highest civilian honor. The award was established on January 2nd, 1954, and is granted for remarkable and illustrious service. These prizes are open to everyone regardless of race, profession, rank, or gender. Government employees, including those employed by public sector undertakings, are not eligible for these Awards, except doctors and scientists.

Padma Bhushan – The Padma Bhushan is the Republic of India’s third-highest civilian award. The prize, which was established on January 2, 1954, is granted for distinguished service of a high degree without regard to race, occupation, status, or gender. The award criteria encompass service in any profession, including government service, but exclude those working with public sector enterprises.

Padma Shri – Padma Shri, often spelled Padma Shree, is the Republic of India’s fourth-highest civilian award. The prize, which was established on January 2, 1954, is given in honor of remarkable contributions in diverse fields such as the arts, education, industry, literature, science, acting, medicine, social service, and public affairs. Every year on India’s Republic Day, the Government of India bestows this honor.
